A blog can be added to an existing website. Before starting the project, however, make sure to take into consideration factors such as branding, the intended use of the blog, and goals related to search engine optimization (SEO).
A blog connected to your website via a new directory created on your server (insyncwriting.com/blog or blog.insyncwriting.com) would work well for branding and extending the focus of your site . If you want to be identified as an independent resource or advertise a particular service, product or book, using a unique URL might be a better option. Using a unique address works well for creating a conversation around a niche topic or targeting a sub-group of readers. If you wanted to limit your blogging to copyrighting or press releases, for example, a separate URL could be quite effective.
