Using a Business Page on Facebook

I love Facebook and I adore the option of creating a separate page for your business.   A Facebook business page is an extension of your personal Facebook account.  And it’s a wonderful and affordable way to announce events,  promote your blog, and dialogue with your customer base.

A few things to know about Facebook business pages:

1) Facebook business pages have “fans” instead of “friends”.

2) You cannot invite friends to join your Facebook business page but they can become fans on their own.

3) Your Facebook business page fans do not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile.

4) Any action you take to your Facebook business page will show the page’s name not your personal name.

5) If someone becomes a fan of your Facebook business page, their fan status will show up on their personal Facebook page thus giving you tons of promotion.

6) You can send updates to all your fans on your Facebook business page and target the message by geography, gender, and age.  When sending an update, just remember to check the “Target this update” box.

7) Your blog can be embedded on your Facebook business page via a RSS feed (love this!)

Visit Creative Blog Solutions on Facebook to see how I set up our business page.  The page includes screen shots of blogs we have created for clients (these are jpegs–any kind of picture can be uploaded), our blog’s posts via a RSS feed, and information about our upcoming tele-classes.  I even embedded a Youtube video called The Break up which is a must see.  Be sure to become a fan if you visit our page.  And, Oh-you must have a Facebook account to do so.  Jump in!
